Crazy Pictures What are they up to Now?
Bernie Garcia - Vocals,
Keyboards and Song Writer
Bernie Douglas Garcia was born on June 17th,
1963 in Hollywood, CA.  To his sisters he was
a great brother and to his friends he was
legendary.  He always had a passion for music
and started Crazy Pictures in the mid 90's.
Bern was know for his impersonations and
crazy faces.  He could keep you laughing all
night long.  Bernie was larger than life to
friends who often hung around him at Chez B,
his home and if you were part of the gang you
were in Bern's world.  Bernie was a real estate
appraiser and was quite successful.  Bernie
passed away on Febuary 11th, 2006.  He will
be missed and not forgotten.
Though we had our moments, Bern and I spent a lot of time together.  Since the first time we got together in his bedroom (that's where he kept his keyboards), at the trailer,
we spent numerous late hours singing and writing and putting his words to music.  We argued often, but I believe he trusted my input when it came to the music and that was
important to me because the music was important to Bern.  We often talked about our lives and our struggles although Bernie did not like to bare his soul about his struggles
in life, he did like to explain where he got the inspiration for his words.

Bern helped me through a couple of rough spots in my life and was there for me.  We became neighbors as the band formed and later became room mates.  The times I spent at
Chez B were some of the best ever.

I met Bern's dad first and he was good to me.  He actually started my first business venture for me when I first moved to L.A.  He got his friends and associates to buy my
software package and he also let me work in his office to learn more about appraisal.  I did this to sell more products to the appraisal field and it worked.  I got to meet and
hang out with both of Bernie's sisters, Susan and Shelley.  They were great and always treated me as a friend.  I will miss the Big B. - JW
Andrew Robles  a.k.a. Drew - Fitch
Bass and Backing Vocals
Andrew Robles joined I believe, just after our
first disaster, I mean gig....  He played guitar,
but Bernie was convinced that he could play
the bass.  He was right.  Andrew and Bernie
were always very close and Drew quickly
became a crucial part of Bernie's band.
JW Najarian.  a.k.a. John and
Johnny Love
Yes JW used to be know as John.  Here's the
deal.  John was called JW by his closest
friends.  He used John for business.  John
met Bern through Bern's dad who worked
with John early on.
"Everyone knows me as
JW so it is actually wierd nowadays to
answer to John!  Bern nick-named all his
friends and I was Johnny Love."
JW and Val got married in 1998 and
are still happily together.  They
bought a house together in Tujunga
and are working on retiring to Lake
Tahoe as soon as possible.

JW is a commercial / residential real
estate investor
www.prigen.net.
I did make it back to New York a few
times.  I worked there for a trucking
company.
I rarely play anymore, unless we are talking golf.  I
started a band with Andrew from the Covina Bar.  I
know, but I was in a feud with Bern at the time!  It
was called the Buzz Band and featured the original
drummer from the Turtles Terry Hand.  We played
cover tunes and it didn't last very long.  I didn't have
the time to continue so I had to bow out.  Andrew kept
up the band, but sold the Buzz Club shortly after that
time.  We only played the Buzz Bar in the valley to a
very small crowd.  I am still friendly with Andrew and
we talk from time to time.

I have played, pictured here, with friends from Person
to Person, at a casino in Laughlin, where I played
Sweet Home Alabama.  I have played with Person to
Person 3 times...  Always the same song...  I also got a
nice beer buzz on the beach in Tahoe and played with
"Waiting for David" or something like that?

BTW Bern and I made up and made nice.  I visited
Chez B and hung out a couple of times.  One night Bern
and I got together and he played me all his new stuff.
Very nice.  Would love to get some copies.  I also got
to hang for a bit with Bern and Drew.
Bryan Fulton  a.k.a. Bri - Original
Drummer who recorded CD
Bryan walked up onstage with us at the Boars Head and
stayed with Crazy Pictures during the recording of the CD
and many of our local gigs including the Whiskey.  I don't
remember what exactly happened, but Bryan was asked to
leave.  Bryan is a great guy and still a friend to the band.
Bryan played with Drew and JW at Bernie's memorial.
Steve Monreal - Drummer
GMW guitars in Glendora recommended Steve
to JW after Bryan was asked to leave the
band.  Steve Monreal is a music prodigy and
can play the keyboards or bass as well as the
drums.  He toured with Tower of Power for
around 4 years and this guy had a perfect
sense of rhythm.  He is the drummer who was
famous for passing out on stage at our big
show in New York.  Steve brought us Danny.
Danny - Backup Guitars
Danny, was a young buck, but a great player
and he could sing....  Bern paid Danny to give
me guitar lessons.  I wish I had more time to
really learn from this guy.

I really wanted Danny to go for it onstage, but
he was always very respectful of our music and
my leads.  I have no idea where he is or what
he is up to.  If anyone has a clue, please call
me. - JW
Steve - Violinist
Mr. Natural, Steve was a new age kinda guy
that was hard not to like.  Just a nice guy with a
big heart.  I beleive I can find him. - JW

Camille the wonder dog died a few
years ago.  She was a great dog and a
good friend.  I miss her very much.
Rhonda my ex is living with her folks
somewhere.  She lost her son to a car
accident a few years back.  This was a
great loss for her and my heart goes
out to here and her family.
"Shit

Fuck

The hell with it all

Bernie’s dead? Well, fuck, what’s the point—I mean how could it happen to such a life force?

Well, it did kiddies, and I was there when all the smoke cleared. I saw the body—I saw a body. I’m not convinced it was him, he looked more like
Buddha. Felt strange too. But that’s neither here nor there, because the fucker isn’t around to make me laugh or cure my intense boredom with a
query of “Fitch, what doin’?” For that this shitrain we call life is that much more awful.

(But it isn’t really that bad, is it? Fuck, I don’t know, call me in 10 years)

Bernie made things more intense—I used to argue with him all the time about various things, but it was never anything we’d hate each other for. We
both were passionate and opinionated, and he often got his way by the sheer force of his personality. (it was, after all Bern’s world, I just lived
there)
But after all is said and done I’m left with an overall feeling of, well, joy is too strong a word—I know I laugh a lot, but, as Allen Ginsberg said
“Joy and suffering, at a certain point, become one taste.” Well, I’ve tasted enough thank you. I’m ready for just plain old joy, or better yet, steady
old neutrality.

(Goddammit Drew, why are you so fucking negative?) (Bernie would say the same thing) Not negative but a realist. I was lucky to know Bernie and
the pain from his being gone is equaled by the happy memories he left behind. But there is pain. There will always be pain. And there is music. I
wrote my own music because Bernie inspired me to.

And that’s that, and all there is. Bernie’s gone, I’m here. The music’s there. Ask me all about it if you want to know more. Maybe I’ll tell you what
you want to hear."
